WASHINGTON. June 19 (Interfax) - Canada has added 13 Russian officials, investigative agency employees, to its sanctions lists, the Canadian Foreign Ministry said.
"Melanie Joly, minister of foreign affairs, today announced that Canada is imposing additional sanctions on 13 individuals [...] in relation to death of [...] Alexei Navalny," the ministry said in a press release.
"The individuals targeted are senior officials and high-ranking employees of Russia's investigation agency, penitentiary service and police force," it said.
The sanctions imply immobilization of assets and a ban on trips to Canada.
The ministry's website published a list of 13 Russian citizens added to the sanctions lists on June 13. The sanctions took effect on the day of their publication, it said.
