HANOI. June 20 (Interfax) - Vietnam and Russia will not make alliances with third states to each other's detriment, Vietnamese President To Lam said.
"We will not make alliances with third countries to the detriment of each other's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity," To Lam said at a press conference after negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Vietnam views Russia as a foreign policy priority, he said.
Additionally, To Lam commented on the agreements reached at the talks.
"We will step up cooperation in defense and security and will counter new and traditional threats together in accordance with international law," he said.
