HANOI. June 20 (Interfax) - It is impossible to limit access to the flow of information, but one can try to overcome negative trends, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"It is impossible to limit access to the huge flow of information. There is only one way to overcome the associated negative trends, namely, to be more convincing in the information field," Putin said at a meeting with alumni of Soviet and Russian higher educational establishments in Hanoi.
Both Russia and Vietnam can do this, he said.
Putin called for using modern methods for work with the young. The work "must not be boring or ineffective and, most importantly, it must not be formalistic," he said.
"As soon as young people sense formalism, the work becomes pointless, especially in the modern world [which is] connected to the Internet and [which] offers free access to information of any kind," Putin said.
