Another power substation damaged in Energodar - town administration (Part 2)

ROSTOV-ON-DON. June 21 (Interfax) - Another power substation has been damaged in Energodar, the Zaporozhye region, following an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the town administration said on Friday.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have struck the Raduga substation. A transformer has been damaged," the administration said on its Telegram channel.

Specialists are working at the site. No casualties have been immediately reported.

Earlier reports said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Luch substation in Energodar on June 19.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said earlier on Friday that the damage caused to the Luch substation affected nuclear safety and security."The damage sustained by the Luch substation had a direct impact on plant staff who live in Energodar, [territory] immediately adjacent to the plant, and therefore also an impact on nuclear safety and security" the IAEA quoted Grossi as saying in a press release.

He also insisted on making sure that power infrastructure "be protected and preserved at all times."

Energodar houses the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), the largest of its kind in Europe. The latest strikes on its territory were recorded on May 22. The ZNPP receives electricity from the right bank of the Dnieper River controlled by Ukraine through the main 750 kV Dneprovskaya power transmission line and the backup 330 kV Ferrosplavnaya-1 line. There have been no reports on their disablement.
