MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - The Russian government has approved a draft agreement with India on the procedure for mutual deployments of military units, warships and warplanes and the related mutual supply and logistics.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin's order has been published on the official website of legal information.
"The Russian Defense Ministry is tasked with holding talks with the Indian side together with the Russian Foreign Ministry and signing the agreement on behalf of the government of the Russian Federation upon their finalization, with the right to make non-essential changes to the draft," the order said.
The agreement envisages, in particular, that military units, warships and warplanes can be deployed to the other party's territory for joint exercises, humanitarian assistance, mitigation of natural and man-made disasters, and in other cases approved by the parties.
Unless the agreement provides otherwise, the host country simultaneously accepts up to five warships, ten warplanes, and 3,000 troops of the other party onto its territory.
The five-year agreement will be automatically extended for five years unless either party declares the intention to terminate it.
