MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Aircraft of the U.S.-led coalition continue to create dangerous situations in Syrian airspace, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Maj. Gen. Yury Popov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
"Eight violations by flights of the coalition's unmanned aerial vehicles and aircraft, including two cases of weapon systems being activated by pilots of U.S. Air Force fighter jets as they approached Russian tactical planes on scheduled flights, were recorded over the day," Popov said.
Two pairs of F-15 fighter jets, a pair of Typhoon fighter jets, two pairs of A-10 attack planes, and an MQ-1C multirole drone of the coalition violated Syria's airspace in the al-Tanf area 11 times, he said.
Five attacks on positions of Syrian government forces by the Jabhat al-Nusra and Turkistan Islamic Party terrorist groups, both banned in Russia, were recorded in the Idlib de-escalation area over the past day, including three in Idlib province and two in Latakia province, Popov said.
