Moscow, Baghdad intend to strengthen cooperation on security in Middle East

MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax) - Russian Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Falih Al-Fayyadh, chairman of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces.

"The unchanging commitment of Moscow and Baghdad to continue strengthening coordination of the general approaches to security and stability in the Middle East was reaffirmed," according to a report published on the Russian Foreign Ministry site on Wednesday.

During the exchange of opinions on the key aspects of the Middle Eastern agenda, the main attention was given to the situation in Iraq and Syria, and also to the development of the situation in the Palestine-Israel conflict zone, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
