Acting Iranian president arrives in Astana for SCO summit

ASTANA. July 4 (Interfax) - Acting Iranian President Mohammad Mokhber arrived in Kazakhstan and was greeted at the Astana airport by Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, the prime minister's press service said on Thursday.

"Mohammad Mokhber will attend the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization [SCO]," the press service said.

The process of Iran's admission to the SCO as a full-fledged member was finalized at the organization's summit in New Delhi in 2023, it said.

Iran has become the SCO's ninth member state.
