ASTANA. July 4 (Interfax) - Russia attaches great significance to the interaction in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is progressively developing on the principles of equality and consideration of each other's interests, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Russia attaches great significance to the SCO partnership. We are pleased to say that this interaction continues to progressively develop on the principles of equality, consideration of each other's interests, respect for cultural and civilizational diversity, and search for collegial solutions to pressing security problems," Putin said at a meeting of the SCO Council of the Heads of State in Astana on Thursday.
"A large package of documents and solutions has been drafted" with the active participation of Kazakh colleagues for approval at the current meeting of the council, Putin said.
"No doubt, their implementation will help strengthen the role and influence of the SCO. The Astana declaration, presented for the summit's approval, reflects the approaches of SCO member states to key aspects of the global and regional agenda. It highlights the commitment of all SCO members to a fair, multipolar world order based on the central role of the UN, international law and aspiration of sovereign states for mutually advantageous partnership," he said.
