No reason to comment on reports about possible return of ambassador in Washington to Russia - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has said it sees no reason to comment on reports about the possible imminent return of Ambassador in Washington Anatoly Antonov to Russia, and noted that the Russian president makes decisions on appointing and replacing ambassadors.

"There is no reason for comment here. Everyone can have their own personal plans," ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters on Thursday.

"Decisions on the appointment and replacement of ambassadors are made by the president," she added.

Antonov could return to Moscow in the foreseeable future, the Kommersant newspaper reported earlier.
