Russia-U.S. strategic stability dialogue cannot resume at present - Putin

ASTANA. July 4 (Interfax) - Restarting Russia's constructive dialogue with the United States over strategic stability is impossible at this point, it is necessary to wait for U.S. election results and gauge the mood in the White House, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"It is necessary to wait until the U.S. elections and understand the moods and preferences of the future administration. We are ready for it," Putin told journalists in Astana on Thursday, when asked if the strategic stability agreements could be revived.

"Right now, with the election campaign underway, and one of a very acute internal political character, to say that we can now establish some constructive dialogue with the United States, and it is to them primarily we should be talking on this score, it seems to me that all those present here and the people who at least somehow follow the developments, understand that this is not possible today," Putin said.
