Russian anti-sub aircraft fly training missions over Pacific Ocean

VLADIVOSTOK. July 5 (Interfax) - Tupolev Tu-142M3 long-range anti-submarine warfare aircraft of the Russian Pacific Fleet has flown a routine training mission over the Sea of Okhotsk and the Pacific Ocean to practice pilots cohesion and anti-submarine missions, the fleet's press service said in a statement on Friday.

"The Tu-142M3 pilots practiced searching for mock enemy submarines using standard specialized detection equipment during the exercise," the statement said.

The aircraft also practiced flying over featureless terrain and trained cohesion while operating the planes in the absence of ground-based air navigation radio aids, it said.
