Over 11,000 NATO troops deployed near Belarusian border - Belarusian General Staff

MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) - NATO is deploying additional troops and hardware near the Belarusian border, and ten combat tactical groups are on duty in Poland and the Baltic countries.

"We are observing a systemic enlargement of NATO coalition forces in the western sector, in the close proximity to our border. What is more, the NATO leadership is implementing plans for further enlargement of the military presence on the territory of states adjacent to us," the Belarusian Defense Ministry's press service quoted General Staff Deputy Chief Vladimir Kupriyanyuk as telling a press briefing in Minsk on Friday.

Ten multinational combat tactical groups comprising over 11,000 troops have been deployed in Poland and the Baltic countries alone, he said.

"This does not include military units of the national armed forces of our neighbors," Kupriyanyuk said.
