Russian Pacific Fleet corvettes on training mission in Asia Pacific region

VLADIVOSTOK. July 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Pacific Fleet's Rezky and Gromky corvettes have deployed from Vladivostok on a training mission in the Asia Pacific region, the fleet press service said on Monday.

"While departing from the fleet's main base, the ships practiced rapid preparation for deployment and engagement, and repelled an attack by a mock enemy's drone while passing through narrow water," the press service said.

A Kamov Ka-27PS marine helicopter of the Pacific Fleet landed on one of the corvettes in the Peter the Great Gulf on Sunday.

The Rezky and Gromky corvettes will hold a series of drills in the Asia Pacific region. In particular, they will practice searching for and destroying a mock enemy's submarines and joint air and anti-sabotage defense at the sea.
