Moscow expects continued close alliance with Tehran - Peskov

MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax) - Moscow expects a continued close alliance with Tehran after the Iranian presidential election, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We wish success to the new Iranian leadership, and of course, expect to continue our relations of close partnership and alliance with Tehran, which have rather positive dynamics in terms of development and deepening in various areas," Peskov told reporters when commenting on the election of the new Iranian president.

Reformist Masoud Pezeshkian defeated conservative Saeed Jalili in the presidential election runoff.

Iran held an early presidential election after President Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash in May.
