MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax) - The Kremlin supports the Turkish Foreign Ministry's initiative to set up a peace platform for widening efforts to settle the Ukraine conflict, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"Indeed, it would be great if such a platform existed," Peskov told journalists on Monday when asked to comment on Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's recent statement calling for setting up a peace platform for settling the Ukraine conflict.
"President Vladimir Putin is convinced that political and diplomatic efforts should be preferred in searching for a solution to the Ukraine conflict," he said.
Moscow has never rejected the idea of negotiations, Peskov said. "On the contrary, we've supported negotiations involving all parties concerned. But there's no such platform yet," he said.
