MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax) - Certain countries have expressed an interest in bilateral contacts with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his visit to New York under Russia's chairmanship of the UN Security Council, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said.
"Russia became chair of the UN Security Council on July 1. In this regard, the minister will travel there as head of the Foreign Ministry's delegation," Vershinin told reporters.
Russia hopes to hold two main events attended by the minister, on multilateralism and on the Middle East, on July 16-17, he said.
"We are now receiving information that those who would like to attend these main events might be interested in meeting with the minister. All these requests will be considered carefully," he said.
