Russia to closely follow NATO summit - Peskov

MOSCOW. July 9 (Interfax) - Moscow will follow the upcoming NATO summit as closely as possible, as the alliance views Russia as an adversary and seeks to cause it a strategic defeat on the battlefield, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"Certainly, we'll follow the rhetoric, the negotiations, and the decisions to be made and put on paper as closely as possible," Peskov told journalists on Tuesday.

NATO views Russia as an adversary and an enemy, has openly declared on numerous occasions the goal of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield, and "is directly involved in the Ukraine conflict on the Ukrainian side," he said.
