MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax) - Russian forces have struck Ukrainian troops in the Sumy and Kharkov regions, and the western group of forces has taken better positions, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"Units from the northern group of forces have hit troops and hardware of the 115th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the 106th, 117th and 125th Territorial Defense brigades and the 13th National Guard Brigade near Basovka, Novenkoye and Veselovka in the Sumy region, and Volchansk and Liptsy in the Kharkov region," the ministry said.
In that sector, the Ukrainian army lost up to 355 troops, one tank, six pickup trucks, five howitzers, a Krab self-propelled artillery system, an MT-12 Rapira gun, and a countermeasure radar, it said.
"Units from the western group of forces took better positions and hit detachments of the 14th, 44th and 116th Mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the First National Guard Brigade near Sinkovka and Berestovoye in the Kharkov region and Olivovsky Yar and Serebryanskoye forest area ravines," it said.
The Ukrainian army lost up to 460 troops, one tank, three armored personnel carriers, 11 trucks, five howitzers, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and an Anklav-N EW station, it said.
"Units from the southern group of forces improved their front lines and hit troops and hardware of the Ukrainian 24th and 72nd Mechanized brigades, 46th Airmobile Brigade, and 79th Air Assault Brigade near Konstantinovka, Kurakhovo, Ilyinka and Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic," it said.
The Ukrainian army lost up to 700 troops, one tank, two Kozak armored combat vehicles, two trucks, an AS-90 self-propelled artillery system, five guns, and four howitzers, it said.
"A BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher, two Anklav EW stations, and two U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-mortar radars were destroyed," it said.
