Territorial concessions regarding new Russian regions impossible, won't happen - Federation Council speaker

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Russia will make no territorial concessions regarding the new regions, Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko said.

"Our constitution prohibits any alienation of Russian territory. Any territorial concessions regarding the four attached territories are impossible and will not happen," Matviyenko said at a press conference on Thursday.

"We are ready for talks with due account of the situation on the ground, Russia's national interests and the achievement of goals and objectives set within the framework of the special military operation. We are ready for talks if we have solid guarantees that this is not any distraction from the achievement of our goals, [if we are given] firm guarantees of the provision of security of the Russian sovereignty and the guarantee of readiness to fulfill the agreements if they are signed. We are ready to hold talks on these terms," she said.
