MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - A criminal case has been opened on counts of terror attack, murder and assault on law enforcement officers following the Ukrainian attack on the Kursk region, which inflicted injuries on dozens of Russian civilians and servicemen, Russian Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said.
"Following Ukrainian armed units' attack on border settlements in the Kursk region, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under several articles of the Criminal Code, including a terror attack, murder, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, attacks on law enforcement officers, and others," Petrenko told reporters on Wednesday.
"These criminal actions inflicted injuries on several dozen civilians, including children, and servicemen," she said.
As ordered by Russian Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin, "investigators are taking comprehensive measures to identify the members of Ukrainian armed units who gave and carried out criminal orders to attack civilian targets," Petrenko said. "Their actions will be assessed by criminal law during the preliminary investigation," she said.
