Civilian killed in attack on Shebekino in Russia's Belgorod region - authorities

BELGOROD. Aug 8 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces have shelled Shebekino in the Belgorod region, causing casualties, the region's governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Thursday.

"One person was killed. Doctors fought for his life till the end, but the man died of his injuries in an ambulance on his way to a hospital," Gladkov said on Telegram.

Another civilian was injured in the attack, he said.

"The man with a shin injury has been given medical assistance. An ambulance is taking him to Belgorod Hospital No. 2 for further treatment," Gladkov said.

A fire broke out at the city market, he added.

"A strike set fire to trade pavilions at the market. Emergency Situations Ministry personnel promptly arrived at the scene and put out the fire. Besides, windows were smashed in three apartment buildings," Gladkov said.

He said earlier that Shebekino and communities in the Shebekino urban district were attacked from Ukraine 12 times, and seven civilians were injured, including one who was taken to an ICU in grave condition.
