BAKU. Aug 19 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame Memorial on the Alley of Martyrs in Baku.
The Alley of Martyrs is a cemetery for the victims of the clashes with Soviet Army units that occurred in Baku in January 1990 and Azerbaijani soldiers killed in the First Karabakh War. At present, the Alley of Martyrs is the main national memorial to all those who died for Azerbaijan's independence.
Putin arrived in Baku for a two-day state visit on August 18. Negotiations between the Russian and Azerbaijani presidents are scheduled for Monday, where they are expected to sign a number of documents.
