BRUSSELS. Aug 20 (Interfax) - The cross-border incursion by the Ukrainian Armed Forces into Russia's Kursk region will not affect Ukraine's status as a European Union candidate country, Peter Stano, spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Josep Borrell, said on Tuesday.
"Ukraine has every right to defend itself, and this has nothing to do actually with the accession process with the EU," Stano said at a press briefing in Brussels.
Stano said he was speaking in particular about relations between the European Union and Ukraine.
