U.S. Treasury announces sanctions on approximately 400 individuals, entities over Ukraine

WASHINGTON. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The United States has imposed restrictive measures against approximately 400 individuals and entities over Russia's actions in Ukraine, the U.S. Department of the Treasury said on Friday.

"Building on the sanctions already imposed on Russia in response to the [continued crisis] in Ukraine, today the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Department of State targeted nearly 400 individuals and entities both in Russia and outside its borders, including in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East," the Department said in a statement.

These people and organizations "enable Russia to sustain [the conflict in Ukraine] and evade sanctions," the statement said.

"Treasury is targeting numerous transnational networks, including those involved in procuring ammunition and military materiel for Russia," it said. In addition, the measures will affect the organizers of delivery of certain types of electronics and equipment to Russia.

"Today's sanctions further limit Russia's future revenue from metals and mining," the Treasury said. In addition, its measures will affect certain Russian companies which supply information technologies to the Russian financial sector.
