MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded over 400 instances of the use of toxic agents by Ukrainian forces during the special military operation, Russian Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Forces chief Igor Kirillov said.
"Over 400 instances of the use by the Ukrainian side of toxic chemicals have been recorded during the special military operation. Among them are scheduled compounds such as BZ, hydrogen cyanide, cyanogen chloride, as well as anti-riot chemicals, including U.S.-made ones," Kirillov told journalists on Tuesday.
Russian forces discovered a Ukrainian chemical lab in the Avdeyevka area, he said.
"Analytical studies have determined the presence of sodium cyanide, sulfuric acid, and traces of cyanide anions in samples. This shows with certainty that the discovered lab was used to produce blood-and-nerve agents in the amount of up to three kilos a day, which is equivalent to over 40,000 lethal inhalation doses for people," he said.
The materials were transferred to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Technical Secretariat, which has not responded, Kirillov said.
Russia has also detected procurements by Ukraine of the precursors of toxic agents, he said.
"I am talking about supplies to Kiev of around 500 tonnes of triethanolamine, a compound that can be used for producing the warfare agent nitrogen mustard," Kirillov said.
