MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Russian industries should accelerate the development of products for the Navy, presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev said.
"It is important to improve the future image of the Navy and to adjust the respective strategic planning documents, including those envisaging the development of shipbuilding," Patrushev said at a Maritime Board meeting on Tuesday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting on the development of shipbuilding in support of national defense and security in June, Patrushev said.
"Emphasis was placed on the need for accelerated production of competitive domestic naval products, as well as the development and production of key elements of weapon systems and military hardware for the Navy at Russian research and manufacturing facilities, and ensuring serial ship production," he said.
"The task of full technological independence in the production of ship equipment and software was set," Patrushev said.
