NALCHIK. Aug 27 (Interfax) - The situation in Russia's North Caucasian Federal District, where the rise in terrorism and extremism continues, is complicated, Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said.
"The socio-political and operational situation across the North Caucasian Federal District remains complicated. The District has seen a steady rise in the number of extremism and terrorist crimes," Shoigu said at an offsite meeting in the District on Tuesday.
In 2024 alone, acts of terrorism were committed Karachay-Cherkessia and Dagestan, resulting in 21 deaths, including 18 law enforcement officers, he said.
