Overall amount of EU's military support for Ukraine tops 43 bln euros - Borrell

BRUSSELS. Aug 30 (Interfax) - The European Union has provided Ukraine with military support worth over 43 billion euros, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Josep Borrell said on Friday.

"Today, our military support [to Ukraine] exceeds 43-43.5 billion euros," Borrell said at a press conference following the EU Foreign Affairs Council's informal meeting.

Taking into account the EU's support to Ukraine's civilian sector, the total figure exceeds 100 billion euros, he said.

The EU is continuing to send ammunition to Ukraine and has reached the mark of 65% in implementing its plan of supplying Ukraine with 1 million artillery rounds, he said.

This process accelerated in the summer, and the EU's defense industry is currently operating at full capacity, he said.
