WASHINGTON. Sept 4 (Interfax) - The United States Department of the Treasury announced on Wednesday that it was designating the TV channel RT, its Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan, and Deputy Editors-in-Chief Elizaveta Brodskaia and Anton Anisimov for sanctions.
The Treasury Department said it was imposing sanctions on ten individuals and two legal entities "as part of a coordinated U.S. government response to Moscow's malign influence efforts targeting the 2024 U.S. presidential election."
The sanctions include the blocking of property of the designated individuals in U.S. territory or in possession or control of U.S. citizens. They also prohibit all transactions by U.S. persons or within (or transiting) the U.S. that involve any property or interests in property of designated or otherwise blocked persons.
