Downed drone causes building fire in Gomel - Belarusian Emergency Situations Ministry

MINSK. Sept 5 (Interfax) - A building caught fire after a drone was downed in Gomel bordering Ukraine, the Belarusian Emergency Situations Ministry said.

"A brick building of a warehouse on 8th Pereulok Ilicha [street] in Gomel caught fire, presumably after a drone was downed," the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"Emergency Situations Ministry units have eliminated the fire. No one was hurt," rescue workers said. The fire damaged a small part of the roof.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry said earlier on Thursday that a violation of the Belarusian state border in the air, presumably with drones, was registered in the early hours of September 5. On-duty air defense forces eliminated all violators. A probe is underway.
