MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - The Russian Northern Fleet's Arctic expeditionary group of forces, which operates in the eastern districts of the Arctic Ocean, has reached the Cape Schmidt area in the Chukchi Sea as part of the Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"The group consists of the Vice Admiral Kulakov large anti-submarine warfare ship, which coordinates the forces, the Alexander Otrakovsky large landing ship, the Altai rescue tug and the Sergei Osipov tanker," it said.
The Vice Admiral Kulakov and the Alexander Otrakovsky have dropped anchor and begun preparations for a landing operation on a beach, it said.
During the Ocean 2024 maneuvers, the Northern Fleet's forces will practice tactical operations off Chukotka in the Arctic, on the mainland coast and in the seas of the Arctic and Pacific Oceans.
