BRUSSELS. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The EU assistance to Ukraine totals 118 billion euros, European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis said on Tuesday.
"By now, the overall assistance to Ukraine and its people by the EU and its member states amounts to around 118 billion euros," Dombrovskis said in a statement published on the European Commission's website.
This includes 25.2 billion euros' worth of macro-financial assistance, 17 billion euros disbursed to EU member states as assistance to refugees, 14 billion euros raised via the Ukraine Facility, and 12 billion euros in loans, subsidies and guarantees from EU member states.
In addition, 43.5 billion euros' worth of military assistance has been provided, including 6.1 billion euros provided by the European Peace Facility. According to Dombrovskis, 60,000 Ukrainian troops have been trained on EU territory, and the current goal is to train another 15,000 troops by winter. The EU has reached the target of supplying 1 million shells to Kiev by 70%, he said.
The EU has also disbursed 1.4-billion-euro revenues from immobilized Russian assets for arms supplies to Ukraine, Dombrovskis said.
"Close to 1.4 billion euros have already been channeled through the European Peace Facility to deliver priority equipment, including artillery ammunition and air defense, as well as - for the first time - procurement from the Ukrainian defense industry," he said.
Most of the procured weapons are due to reach Ukraine by the end of 2024, Dombrovskis said.
Meanwhile, the European Commission "is working on implementing the G7 decision to provide Ukraine with $50 billion of financing, which is approximately 46 billion euros, backed by the prospective revenues from immobilized Russian assets," he said.
EU Foreign Policy chief Josep Borrell said in August that the European Union had started disbursing revenues from immobilized Russian assets to Ukraine and EU members which are due to provide Kiev with weapons.
