MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The 235th Garrison Military Court has ruled not to extend the pretrial arrest of Vyacheslav Akhmedov, the director of the Russian Defense Ministry's Patriot Park who is charged with fraud, the court told Interfax.
"The court has changed Akhmedov's measure of restraint from arrest to house arrest. The court hearing was held behind closed doors," it said.
In early August, the Investigative Committee said Akhmedov and the deputy chief of the Defense Ministry's Innovative Development Directorate Maj. Gen. Vladimir Shesterov were detained in a criminal case opened on a count of major fraud.
Investigators have concluded that the suspects were responsible for embezzling budget funds appropriated for Patriot Park and its Convention and Exhibition Center.
