Attack cuts power, water supply, disrupts communication service in Energodar - authorities

SIMFEROPOL. Sept 17 (Interfax) - A Ukrainian attack has cut power and water supply and disrupted communication service in Energodar in the Zaporozhye region, Energodar Mayor Eduard Senovoz said on Tuesday.

"A Ukrainian artillery strike on Energodar has caused an emergency power outage. There is no power or water supply and no communication service in the city at the moment," Senovoz said on Telegram.

The threat of new attacks persists, he said, adding that repairs will begin as soon as the situation allows.

The Zaporozhye NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, is located in Energodar. The Zaporozhye NPP is powered from the western bank of the Dnieper, which is controlled by Ukraine, through two power transmission lines, namely, the main 750kV Dneprovskaya line and the backup 330kV Ferosplavnaya-1 line. Their disconnection was not reported.
