Pezeshkian reassures Shoigu of readiness to continue to develop cooperation with Russia - Iranian media

DUBAI. Sept 17 (Interfax) - Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has told Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu at their meeting in Tehran that the Iranian government is working on the development of bilateral relations, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported on Tuesday.

Pezeshkian recalled the history of Iran's constructive relations with Russia, IRNA said.

"The Iranian president stated that the 14th government will seriously follow the ongoing cooperation and measures to improve the level of relations between the two countries," IRNA said.

The pair also discussed preparations for Pezeshkian's participation in talks during a BRICS summit in Kazan, it said.

In addition, Shoigu said that a message he conveyed to the Iranian president from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin says that Moscow's position on cooperation with Iran on regional issues has not changed, IRNA said.
