MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) - The Laros 2024 military exercise of Russia and Laos started at the Sergeyevsky combined arms firing range in Russia's Primorye Territory on Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Representatives of the command of the Eastern Military District, a combined-arms unit of the Eastern Military District stationed in Primorye, and troops of the two states participated in the opening ceremony," the statement said.
The state flags of Russia and Laos and the flag of the joint exercise were raised and the national anthems of the participating states were played at the firing range during the ceremony, it said.
"The troops of the Lao People's Army will practice all stages of practical actions in unified formations with the units of the Eastern Military District during the exercise," it said.
The Laotian military contingent previously arrived at the Knevichi airfield in Vladivostok on military-transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, it said.
The Laros 2024 exercise will take place on September 18-26.
