MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) - Thirteen people have been hospitalized in serious but not life-threatening condition in the town of Toropets, Tver region, after falling UAV debris downed by air defense systems caused a fire, aide to the Russian health minister Alexei Kuznetsov said.
"Updated information indicates that 13 people have been hospitalized with injuries of moderate degrees following the incident in the Tver region, their lives are not in danger, and they're receiving all the necessary aid," Kuznetsov told journalists on Wednesday.
Doctors are also examining 15 other people, and teams of healthcare specialists are on duty at temporary accommodation centers.
The Health Ministry's Federal Center for Emergency Medicine is coordinating the provision of medical support.
As reported earlier, as air defense systems repelled a drone attack, falling debris caused a fire in Toropets. For security reasons, Tver region governor Igor Rudenya ordered a partial evacuation of the population from the area where the fire was being fought.
The Emergency Situations Ministry's office for the Tver region said no fires were recorded in other parts of the town. A total of 150 firefighters and rescuers and 40 items of hardware were engaged in responding to the emergency.
Rudenya said later that the evacuated residents of Toropets could return home and that the regional administration would help the social facilities, businesses, owners of private houses, and all those in need whose property has been damaged to do repairs.
