MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) - The Russian Armed Forces will receive serial items of modern weaponry, President Vladimir Putin said.
"We are pursuing a program for a comprehensive re-equipment of the Army and the Navy. This means that the troops will receive not just single but serial items of modern precision-guided weapon systems, armored vehicles, aircraft, detection and weapon locating systems, control and communication devices," Putin said at a conference dealing with the equipment of the Russian Armed Forces.
These weapons also include unmanned aerial vehicles of various types, ranging "from strategic and heavy to small and miniature ones," he said.
"This includes reconnaissance and combat systems, patrol, counterbattery systems, mining and demining equipment, and fighters. We'll discuss those issues in a detailed way, as I've said, and will continue this discussion at a Military-Industrial Commission meeting," Putin said.
