Gadget explosions in Lebanon must be thoroughly investigated - Russian State Duma speaker

MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Gadget explosions in Lebanon must be thoroughly investigated, State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.

"What happened in Lebanon must be thoroughly investigated. The very fact of using household devices as explosives requires a proper investigation," Volodin said on Telegram on Thursday.

"The possibility of mass production of such 'weapons' brings terrorism to a whole new level," he said.

"This is a global threat to all countries. International institutions must elaborate measures against such crimes or else not a single person will feel safe," Volodin said.

What happened in Lebanon as "an intentional high-tech attack may have serious consequences worldwide," he said.

A series of explosions of pagers, phones, radios and other electronic devices in Lebanon have injured over 3,000 people and killed dozens.
