Senior Armenian, U.S. diplomats discuss prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation

YEREVAN. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Joshua Huck discussed expanding strategic bilateral partnerships in Yerevan on Thursday, the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service said.

"The parties underscored the importance of joint efforts towards enhancing strategic partnership, a new milestone in bilateral relations between Armenia and the United States, and outlined upcoming plans. Along with stepping up the political dialogue, they discussed the prospects for boosting cooperation in sectoral areas, in particular in promoting trade," it said.

Mirzoyan said at the meeting that bilateral relations "have recently been advancing intensively, have been filled with new content, and have been based on strategic dialogue." Armenia is interested in maintaining active cooperation in various areas, he said.

The parties also discussed the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, it said.
