Lavrov to deliver speech at UNGA session on Sept 28 - Russian Foreign Ministry

ST. PETERSBURG. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will deliver a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on September 28, hold a large number of one-on-one meetings and attend high-level multilateral events, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"The High-Level Week of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly is due to open in New York on September 24. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it will become one of the central international political events of the year, especially taking what is now happening in world affairs into account," Zakharova said at a press briefing in St. Petersburg on Friday.

"The minister's working schedule will be busy as usual. Of course, the highlight will be his speech from the General Assembly rostrum on September 28. The Russian foreign minister will also take part in a number of high-level multilateral events, including within the [Collective Security Treaty Organization] CSTO, BRICS, the G20, and the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations," she said.

"As usual, a large number of one-on-one contacts have certainly been scheduled, including communication with the UN secretary-general," she said.
