Development of friendly relations meets interests of Russian, Armenian peoples - Putin

YEREVAN. Sept 23 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin have sent greetings to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the 33rd anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia.

"Further development of friendship and allied relations between Russia and Armenia and constructive interaction within shared integration groups definitely meet fundamental interests of our peoples," the Armenian government's press service quoted Putin's message.

"I wish health and success to you and happiness and prosperity to all citizens of Armenia," Putin said.

Mishustin said, for his part, "The expansion of multifaceted bilateral cooperation and constructive interaction within the Eurasian Economic Union fully meets the long-term interests of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia."

"I wish good health and well-being to you [...] and peace and prosperity to all citizens of Armenia," Mishustin said.

Pashinyan also received greetings from U.S. President Joe Biden.

Bound by the deep relationship between the peoples of the two countries, Armenia and the United States are working together to build a better future, including by elevating their relationship to a strategic partnership, Biden said.

This will facilitate the cooperation on everything from strengthening the security and defense partnership to accelerating the clean energy and trade diversification initiatives, he said.

This strategic partnership will also support Armenia's continued efforts to advance a democratic path through civic action, good governance, rule of law, and anti-corruption measures - values shared by Americans and Armenians alike. The United States supports Armenia's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and its right to determine its own future, Biden said.

The U.S. supports the Armenian government's continued commitment to achieving lasting peace throughout the region and looks forward to working with it to continue to shape a future in which everyone can live with dignity, honor, and security, he said.

Additionally, Pashinyan received congratulatory messages from the president of Kazakhstan, the chairman of Turkmenistan's Halk Maslahaty, and the prime minister of Iraq.
