NEW YORK. Sept 24 (Interfax) - The parties to the conflict in Ukraine should take note of the UN fundamental documents, which could facilitate the attainment of peace, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said.
"It is time for a just peace based on the UN Charter, on international law, and on UN resolutions," Guterres told the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
Civilians remain the worst affected party, with many lives being ruined and deaths rising, so complying precisely with the basic UN principles might help with a peaceful settlement, he said.
