Putin says necessary to adapt strategic planning documents to current situation (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax) - It is necessary to adapt strategic planning documents to the current situation, considering the emergence of new sources of military threats to Russia and its allies, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"We are now seeing the military-political situation changing rapidly. We have to take this into account, including the emergence of new sources of military threats and risks for Russia and our allies. It is important to forecast how the situation will develop and to adapt the provisions of a strategic planning document to the current situation," Putin said at a meeting of the Russian Security Council's permanent session on nuclear deterrence.

Today, the nuclear triad remains the most important guarantee of maintaining the security of Russia and its citizens, and an instrument for maintaining strategic parity and global balance of power, he said.

"In conclusion, I would like to note that all the adjustments are deeply verified and proportionate to modern-day military threats and risks for the Russian Federation," Putin said.

The meeting of the Russian Security Council's permanent session on nuclear deterrence was attended by Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin, First Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev, Roscosmos head Yury Borisov and Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev.
