Seven detained in Russia's Ingushetia on suspicion of plotting terror attacks - FSB (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Sept 30 (Interfax) - The Federal Security Service (FSB) has prevented a series of sabotage actions and attacks on law enforcement officers in Ingushetia, and detained seven suspects, the FSB public relations center said in a statement on Monday.

"Measures taken in Magas and Nazran stopped the illegal activity of eight local residents, citizens of the Russian Federation plotting to sabotage regional energy infrastructure and attack law enforcement officers," it said.

One of them "put up armed resistance and sustained lethal injuries, while the others were arrested," the FSB said.

An improvised explosive device equivalent to about ten kilograms of TNT, a grenade launcher, five rifles, nine handguns, 11 grenades with fuses, more than 8,500 rounds of various calibers, electronic media, and manuals on assembling explosive and incendiary devices were found at the detainees' homes and in their caches, it said.

"The investigative department of the FSB branch in the Republic of Ingushetia has opened a criminal case under Part 1, Part 20, Paragraph A, Part 2 Article 281 (sabotage conspiracy), Part 3, Article 222 (illegal turnover of firearms) and Part 3 Article 222.1 (illegal production of explosive devices) of the Russian Criminal Code," the ministry said.

The FSB withheld the detainees' identity.
