Russian forces thwart 5 attempts by Ukrainian forces to break through border in Kursk sector - Defense Ministry (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Sept 30 (Interfax) - The Russian northern group of forces has repelled five Ukrainian attempts to break through the Russian border towards Novy Put in the Kursk sector, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"Five Ukrainian attempts to break through the Russian border towards Novy Put have been thwarted with support of army aviation and artillery," the ministry said.

The enemy lost over 30 troops killed or wounded, three armored combat vehicles, a truck, and an M88 armored maintenance and evacuation vehicle, it said.

"Over the past day, the group repelled two counterattacks by the enemy towards Lyubimovka and Plekhovo and thwarted attempted attacks towards Olgovka and Kamyshevka. As a result, the Ukrainian army lost up to 60 troops killed or wounded, two armored combat vehicles, and a truck," the ministry said.

According to it, units from the northern group of forces continued the offensive and struck detachments of ten Ukrainian brigades near Lyubimovka, Daryino, Novy Put, Nikolayevo-Daryino and Plekhovo.

"The Russian Armed Forces are continuing its efforts to defeat the enemy's group that has penetrated the territory of the Kursk region," the ministry said.
