MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) - Russia condemns the airstrike on the Syrian capital of Damascus, as the regional situation is destabilizing and tensions are rising, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Obviously, we condemn such strikes on a sovereign state. You and I can see that the hostilities are expanding geographically, which leads to further destabilization of the region and an escalation of tensions. These tensions are harmful for the entire region and the adjacent area," Peskov said commenting on the Israeli ground operation in Lebanon and the airstrike on Damascus.
Russia remains "in constant contact with our Syrian friends," and profound concern remains, Peskov said.
