Russian aircraft strike militant bases in Syria - Reconciliation Center

MOSCOW. Oct 2 (Interfax) - The Russian Aerospace Forces have struck three bases of militants from the al-Tanf area, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Capt. 1st rank Oleg Ignasyuk said.

"The command of the Syrian Armed Forces, backed by the Russian contingent, is continuing reconnaissance operations in highland deserts in the Homs and Deir ez-Zor provinces. The Russian Aerospace Forces struck three detected bases of militants from the al-Tanf area," Ignasyuk said at a press briefing on Tuesday.

Four attacks on the positions of Syrian government forces by the Jabhat al-Nusra and Turkistan Islamic Party terrorist groups (both banned in Russia) were recorded in the Idlib de-escalation area over the day, including three in Idlib province and one in Latakia province, he said.

Six violations of the deconfliction protocols dated December 9, 2019, by flights of the U.S.-led coalition's drones uncoordinated with the Russian side were observed over the day, he said.

Ten breaches of Syrian airspace by coalition aircraft, including two pairs of F-15 fighter jets (twice) and a pair of F-16 fighter jets, were recorded in the al-Tanf area in the past 24 hours, he said.
