Russian Defense Ministry: Central group of forces moving deeper into Ukrainian lines, repels 8 counterattacks

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The central group of forces has moved deeper into Ukrainian lines and repelled eight Ukrainian counterattacks over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"Units from the central group of forces moved deeper into enemy lines and hit troops and hardware of the 31st, 32nd, 101st, 110th and 151st Mechanized Brigades, the 1st Tank Brigade, 142nd Infantry Brigade, and the 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 109th and 112th Territorial Defense Brigades, and 12th and 14th National Guard Brigades near the communities of Dzerzhinsk, Druzhba, Sukhaya Balka, Krasny Yar, Grodovka, and Gornyak in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said in a statement.

The group repelled eight counterattacks by assault groups of the 53rd, 100th and 150th Mechanized Brigades, 144th Infantry Brigade, 25th Airborne Brigade, and the 425th Assault Battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 615 troops, a tank, two armored combat vehicles, four pickup trucks, five howitzers, and a Rapira anti-tank gun there, it said.

"Units from the southern group of forces improved their tactical position and hit detachments of the 22nd, 30th, 54th and 93rd Mechanized Brigades, 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade, 144th Infantry Brigade, and the 46th Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the communities of Seversk, Nikiforovka, Kramatorsk, Markovo, Verolyubovka, Stupochki, Predtechino, Belaya Gora, Maximilyanovka and Katerinovka in the Donetsk People's Republic," the statement said.

The southern group of forces repelled three counterattacks by assault groups of the 24th Mechanized Brigade, the 5th Assault Brigade, and the 81st Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 720 troops, an infantry vehicle, four trucks, and five howitzers, a drone workshop, an Anklav-N electronic countermeasures station, and three field ammo there, it said.

"Units from the western group of forces took better lines and positions and struck troops and hardware of the 44th, 63rd and 66th Mechanized Brigades, 143rd Infantry Brigade, and the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 114th Territorial Defense Brigade, and the 1st National Guard Brigade near the communities of Kupyansk, Novoosinovo, Kruglyakovka, Lozovaya and Zelyony Gai in the Kharkov region, Nevskoye in the Lugansk People's Republic, Torskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic, and the Serebryanskoye forest area," the ministry said.

The group repelled three counterattacks by assault groups of the 14th, 53rd and 116th Mechanized Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 400 troops, an infantry vehicle, seven trucks, and five howitzers, as well as two Anklav-N electronic countermeasures stations, two U.S.-made AN/TPQ-90 counter-mortar radars, and four field ammo depots, there, it said.

"Units from the eastern group of forces improved their frontlines and hit troops and hardware of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade and the 58th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the 118th, 125th and 241st Territorial Defense Brigades, and the 21st National Guard Brigade near the communities of Dobrovolye, Zolotaya Niva and Velikaya Novosyolka in the Donetsk People's Republic and Levadnoye in the Zaporozhye region. Two counterattacks by assault groups of the 110th Territorial Defense Brigade were repelled," the statement said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 130 troops, an armored combat vehicle, six trucks, and two howitzers there, it said.

Units from the northern group of forces, operating in the Liptsy and Volchansk sectors, hit detachments of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade and 92nd Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 113th and 129th Territorial Defense Brigades near the communities of Malye Prokhody, Liptsy and Volchansk in the Kharkov region and the city of Kharkov, it said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 145 troops, an armored combat vehicle, two trucks and two howitzers, as well as an Anklav-N electronic countermeasures station, a drone workshop and a drone depot, there, it said.

Units from the Dnepr group of forces hit detachments of the 141st Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the 35th Marine Brigade and the 103rd and 108th Territorial Defense Brigades near the communities of Malaya Tokmachka and Nesteryanka in the Zaporozhye region, and Stepnoye, Kazatskoye and Kizomys in the Kherson region.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 75 troops, a tank, seven trucks and a howitzer, a U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-mortar radar, and three field ammo depots there, it said.
